About the Book

It's about the importance of finding your own purpose, your true purpose, if you have one. It's about the arbitrary nature of life and death. It's about greed and resentment; secrets, lies and myths; delusions and prophesies. It's about the importance of bees.

No, not even a little bit.

This is the first book in a trilogy. The final book will be about the purpose of humanity on earth. Stay tuned.

Kailani Kahale was born to save the earth from annihilation, her grandfather's mysterious vision foretelling her fate—at least that's what her family says. But how can she believe them when they're nothing but killers, liars, and cowards?

Just in case, she lives off the grid on her property in the Hawaiian jungle, quietly tending to her bees, avoiding contact with the outside world.

Everything changes when the FBI finds a body on her land, forcing her into hiding. To return home, she must confront the devil, a Texas lawyer named David Goddard; uncover the web of family lies; and find her true purpose. She just has to do it before the planet blows to bits.

Hello!

I'm Mary Jung

I am an author, an audiobook narrator, and a podcast producer, which means I'm living my dream life. In the before times, I went job to job, profession to profession, from industry analyst to blackjack dealer to sales to software engineer. I also have a graduate degree for library science but was never able to secure a position as a librarian, possibly because I’m too loud.

Currently residing near Seattle, I've lived everywhere from the mountains to the desert and of course the Pacific Ocean, notably the Big Island of Hawai’i. While I was there, I promised the volcano goddess Pele I would write a story about her land. It was only after I finished Killers, Liars, and Cowards: A Portrait of a Family that I realized the story of that land is the story of all lands.
